OPNET-based traffic source model for switching fabric in high-speed routers

To design various QoS algorithms implemented in switching fabric,the behavior of the incoming network traffic needs to be taken into account,regarding not only the self-similarity of the network traffic,but also the distribution of network traffic at output ports.An OPNET traffic source model to address these problems is presented.Simulation results prove that the model can accurately simulate the behavior of the incoming traffic for switching fabric,which will be very useful in the design of switching fabric in high-speed core routers.
