The studies and developments of forecasting support system

Forecasting plays a prominent role in decision making, but it is very difficult to make accurate forecasts. Forecasting support system (FSS) containing forecasting methods, the knowledge both of forecasting and application area and supporting by computer, is a efficient tool to help people make forecasts. Many researchers concentrate on studying of FSS and have achieved much progress. This paper summarizes the studies on framework design of FSS, model management, applying aritficial intelligence in FSS and application of FSS in actual problem forecasting. The deficencies of “multibase” FSS are analyzed when it is applied in forecasting complex problem, such as economic problem. The studying of FSS will focus on multiagent FSS in the future.
