Differential fault analysis on AES-128 based on multi-byte faults

An existing method of the fault induction attack on AES-128 is analyzed.It is based on bit-faults and its efficiency is low.An improved method is introduced to obtain higher efficiency of the attack.This method considers inducing multiple bit-faults into the whole state register for every fault induction,which causes a multi-byte fault.Compared with single bit-fault,inducing multi-byte faults can greatly decrease the number of fault induction while keeping the same probability of success,and loosen the requirement of the fault induction technique.
