Development and Prospect of Image Contrast Enhancement

Image contrast enhancement is an important research content in the field of image processing technology,and it can extend the gray-value dynamic range.The technology significantly improves the visual effects and provides processed images more suitable to analyze.Image contrast has been studied for decades.However,with the change of the original image characteristics and application requirements change,the image contrast enhancement research continues to proceed.This paper systematically introduces the purpose and the current research status of image contrast enhancement,and analyzes the characteristics and limitations of the mainstream algorithm about image contrast enhancement in recent years.Finally,this paper points out the future direction of the image contrast enhancement technique.
