Image Compression Based on Fast Lifting Wavelet Transform

An image compression project based on fast lifting wavelet transform is proposed. The EZW image coding is improved. First, the image is decomposed by fast lifting wavelet transformation. Second, the wavelet coefficients are encoded by the improved EZW. Simulation shows that this image compression scheme can obtain preferable compression ratio and efficiency at the nicer quality of the decoding image.
