Research on Multiple Description Image Coding Based on Block DCT

Multiple description coding(MDC) can effectively improve the data receival quality in the irresponsible networks.Combined with principle of the JPEG coding,the paper presents two image MDC methods according to the different distribution of block-based DCT coefficients. There are different application of the two methods,and the effect of the reconstruction image both single description and double descriptions are satisfactory.
