A Modified Algorithm for the 2-D Discrete Periodized Wavelet Transformation and Its Application

The 2-D discrete periodized wavelet transformation (DWT) is a powerful tool for digital image analysis. A modified algorithm is developed for the 2-D discrete periodized wavelet transformation (DPWT), based on the non-separable 2-D DPWT. Compared with the conventional 2-D pyramid algorithm, this new algorithm reduces half of the multiplication operation and enhances the signal-noise rate with the same precision as the filter coefficients. Also it is suitable for real-time applications.
