Fast Motion Estimation Algorithm Based on Spatiotemporal Correlation

Based on analyzing spatiotemporal correlation macroblock,this paper proposes a fast motion estimation algorithm which can improve dual-cross shape motion estimation algorithm and add initial search point prediction strategy,adaptive searching mode and adaptive searching stop criteria.The JM86 algorithm is used to compare algorithms before and after improvement.The experiment results indicate that the improved algorithm not only has little effect on the restored image quality,but also increases the computation speed about 4 times,and it is especially suitable for the embedded system with limited processing capability.
