Ad-Hoc networks have limitations that make transmission control protocol(TCP) inefficient. This paper describes a mechanism to improve TCP performance in Ad-Hoc networks with the advantages of the congestion avoidance mechanism based on round trip time(RTT) detection and the congestion control mechanism based on packet drop detection. It helps improve smoothness of the traffic flows in wireless network, using adaptive pacing for sending packets. The mechanism is an end-to-end solution in transport layer. It does not need any cross-layer information and can be easily implemented.Tests in NS2 show that this mechanism achieves good throughput as well as fairness among the flows.
