DOA estimation for mixed signal situation with uniform linear array

An effective direction of arrival(DOA) estimation method was proposed for uniform linear array(ULA) when uncorrelated and coherent signals coexist.The DOAs of uncorrelated signals were first estimated by the method of multiple signal classification(MUSIC).Afterwards,a new matrix was constructed based on the spatial difference matrix.By performing forward spatial smoothing on the new matrix,the DOAs of coherent signals can then be resolved.The proposed method overcomes the inherent problem of the spatial difference method and can resolve more signals than the array elements while maintaining good performance.
