New Intra Mode Selection Algorithm of H.264 Based On Angle Filter

A fast intra prediction algorithm in H.264 was proposed in this paper which based on the strong spatial correlations. To choose the best mode, three angle filters had been set. In all I-frame coding of none acute frames, experimental results show that compared to full search the proposed method can reduce about 26% computational complex with less than 3% increase of the bit rate and up to 0.2 dB loss in performance.
