Research and Application of Hydrological Data Sharing Oriented Core Metadata Model

Hydrological metadata is the basic part for building the national hydrological database,and also one of the key technologies for hydrological data sharing.We studied on the development of metadata in hydrological industry with its related fields.The features of hydrological data and its metadata were analyzed and based upon this,a core metadata model for hydrological data with high simplicity and practicality was designed.The core metadata model of hydrological data in this paper has been already used in the hydrological data sharing system,which was proved to be of great value.How the core metadata is used in the system was presented.It shows that the core metadata model provides an effective framework for hydrological metadata.
