The regular expression is wide used in many fields, and specially in string matching. This paper focuses on the feature of the regular expression and analyses how the regular expression is realized in POSIX library,on terms of software code. This algorithm has been realized in Linux software platform and FPGA hardware platform, and it gives some test's result and analysis.
