Location-Aided Routing Protocol in Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks
Wang Guang-xing · Mini-micro Systems · 2005
A mobile ad hoc network consists of wireless hosts that may move often.Movement of hosts results in a change in routes frequently.Based on the Location-Aided Routing protocol Scheme1(LAR1),an enhanced routing protocol with path optimization is proposed, called the enhanced LAR1(ELAR1).A host obtains other host's location information that piggybacked by received route request packets. This can increase the probability of getting destination host's location information as a host initializes a route request. This results in a reduction in the number of routing broadcast packets.A source host maybe get a non-shortest path to a destination host by route request, using hosts' location information in routing path to optimize this path and get a shortest one(fewest hops).Compared with LAR1,the protocol has high packet delivery ratio with low route request overhead and low average end-to-end delay.
