In MPEG-2,the motion vectors encoded inside of compressed video sequence normally have the motion information between adjacent frames. This paper presents a two steps motion vector extracting method: firstly, extract the motion vectors from decoded video stream;secondly, rectify the motion vectors by carefully design the filter coefficients.Analysis of the accuracy of extracted motion vectors indicates that the motion vectors are consistent with the motion information between adjacent frames. The extracted motion field after simple process can be used in frame rate up applications. The motion in the original frames and the formed frames based on the extracted motion field are consistent, and the complexity is low.
