Improvement of Traffic-adaptive Media Access Control Protocol in Wireless Sensor Network

Aiming at the disadvantage of traffic-adaptive Media Access Control(MAC) Protocol,this paper gives an improved scheme of dynamic duty cycle mechanism.Based on S-MAC and TDMA traffic-adaptive MAC protocol,it introduces the dynamic duty cycle mechanism,the original listening/sleep cycle of S-MAC protocol is divided into several short listening/sleep cycles to transmit data repeatedly.NS2 simulation results show that the improved protocol can effectively lower system delay and power consumption,maintain higher throughput and achieve smooth switch of protocols.
