On the Collocations of "从来" and "向来" with Negative and Affirmative Forms

The teaching of 从来 and 向来 is always a focus and hard task in TCFL.Through a semantic analysis,the paper points out their opposite and supplementary features.Generally speaking,从来 is often used in the negative form while向来 is often used in the affirmative form.Though both can be used in the negative form,从来 carries a dynamic and objective negation,while 向来 carries a static,abstract and subjective negation.从来 can give a partial negation to the past time while向来 cannot.
