A Fast and Hierarchical Diamond Search Algorithm in Video Motion Estimation
Shengrong Gong · Microelectronics & Computer · 2005
In this paper, a new motion estimation based on analysis of Diamond Search is proposed, in which video frames fall into two categories: the violent-motion frames and the moderate-motion frames. On the basis of the new motion estimation method, a quick search algorithm named Hierarchical Diamond Search Algorithm is proposed for the majority of moderate-motion frames. The results of experiments show that the proposed algorithm is much faster than Diamond Search and obtains the same image quality.
