Design of Host-based Defense System against Smurf Attack

Smurf attack is one common method among denial of service attacks.Utilizing the bugs of TCP/IP protocol together with spoofed IP address and ICMP echo,this attack method will lead to serious network conqestion and resource consuming and the attacked system will deny service for legal user.By analyzing the principles of Smurf attack,the detection method and defense technology of this attack is proposed,including monitor progress,Real-time IP Filtering System and log files.The final accomplishment and the testing data of the system are also given.
