Design and Implementation of a Video Format Conversion Circuit

In this paper we pr opose a new method of converting conventional PAL/NTSC TV signal to SVGA and XG A for-mat.It is implemented by controlling the reading mode of the frame memor y to up convert the vertical scan lines.Then a small dual-port RAM is used to up convert the horizontal pixel numbers.The interpolation method is motion adap tive inter/in-tra-field and is mainly based on the bilinear method.Also a si mplified scheme of the proposed design is introduced.The de-sign is implemente d on FPGA and is verified to have good results.
