Formal Features of Reduplication of Adjectives in Modern Chinese

Notable features that reduplication of adjectives is different from that of other notional words are various categories of reduplication,abundant patterns and variety of the same origins. Its various categories are related to the classification of original adjectives. Attributive adjectives and stative adjectives which have some pattern in common,such as ABB, have their own patterns of reduplication such as AABB,BABA,BAA etc. Abundant patterns can be studied according to the form of the words, the color of the words and so on, resulting from the symmetry of semantic, the rich function of syntax and the description of pragmatic. The variety of the same original shape means that the same original adjective can have various patterns of reduplication.
