Functions and Translation of SVC Construction

This paper analyzes the rhetorical functions of SVC construction from the perspective of recognition and function.Under the theoretical guidance of pairing of form and function,it discusses the language characteristics and semantic structures of SVC in English and studies the origin and development of complex commentary sentences.Considering the fact that English is structure-prominent,while Chinese is information-prominent,it explores methods of translating commentary constructions.It points out that in translation we should first identify the function and meaning of the source language and distinguish precisely language events in complex sentences and then translate them in the sequence of narrative-commentary.
