A Model for Road Network Displacement in Automated Map Generalization
Deng Hong-yan · 2005
Automated generalization in cartography is a bottleneck in the development of digital cartography and how to deal with the relationship of map features is one of the issues of it, while the displacement is an important way to deal with the relations. This paper attempts to discuss how to solve the displacement by the theory of Elastic mechanics. Based on Finite Element Method we achieve to explore the conflicts of targets and do some analysis of the force bearing on the targets. As an example we aggregate the road network targets regarding this aggregation as an elastomer. And then the work can get the size of the displacement with a plane pole model elastomer. All of the spatial relationship has considered in this method, and we can use an optimum method to solve the problem of displacement's spread.
