Study on Seam-Line Removal under Mosaicking of Remote Sensing Images

Seam-line removal is one of the major problems in remote sensing image mosaicking. According to the defects of the existing methods,this paper proposes an improved method that combines iterative histogram matching and feathering to remove seam-lines. Taking two aviation images of Fuling District in Chongqing as a case study,the results of this new method were compared with those obtained with feathering and histogram matching methods in the mosaicking. The method proposed above was shown to be effective to eliminate seam-lines,increase the image standard deviation,enhance image contrast and improve image quality.
