Preparation of depressant for lubricating oil and research on depression mechanism

The series of long-chained alky methylacrylates were synthesized by directesterifi-cation from alcohols containing carbon actoms from 12 to 18 with α-methylacrylic acid.The pour point depressants for lubricating oil were polymerized with long-chained alky methylacrylates synthesized above.The series of copolymer were synthesized with tetradecyl methylacrylate and styrene,malefic anhydride,vinyl acetate respectively.Through investigating 150SN,the result showed that one of coplymers comprising of tetradecyl methylacrylate and malefic anhydride has the best performance.IR spectra was used to confirm the structures of long-chained alky methylacrylates.
