Manmade objects recognition with polarization information
Shan Lie · Optical Technique · 2004
A novel scheme that is applied to recognize manmade objects with their polarization information is presented. Polarization images of objects are obtained by the self-made multi channels CCD polarimetric instrument. The polarization information is extracted. Because of the difference between the polarization characters of natural objects and manmade objects, the manmade objects can be well recognized by means of general image processing approaches. With experiments, it turns out that the method is effective in separating manmade object from natural background.
