System Analysis and Design of a System for Electronic Data Interchange Based on XML

Traditional EDI communication is transmitted in a closed and value-added network,and the expensive translation software and conversion software impose restrictions on the development of EDI in data exchange field. Aiming at these limitations,the paper presents a framework based on XML/EDI. Adopting XML technology,and using the XML document as a middle exchanged document,the authors propose the methods of packet type conversion,metadata transformation and data elements transcoding,and finally develope a prototype of an electronic data exchange system,which can be applied to the complex document format conversion of information systems in small and medium-sized logistics enterprises.
