An "out of head" acoustic field enhancement system for headphone and its implementation on DSP
Zhe Chen · Signal Processing · 2009
The headphonein headlocalization yields unnatural acoustic fields and causes listening fatigue.Anout of headstereo enhancement system for headphone is therefore designed, which renders out of head localization by simulating virtual loudspeakers in the room by HRTF filtering and adding slight reverberation. Thus a more naturalout of headsound field is generated to solve thein headlocalization problem efficiently. The memory and computation consumptions are further reduced by representing HRTF with CAPZ models and simplifying reverberation algorithm. The system is implemented on the Blackfin533 DSP platform.Experiment results demonstrate that the system can achieve excellent spatial enhancement effect for stereo audio with low computational cost and a small amount of memory.
