Comparative Study of English and Chinese Sentence-inversion and its Information Distribution

Based on the previous contrastive studies of English and Chinese sentence inversion,this paper further addresses the differences and similarities in terms of inversion structure and information distribution between English and Chinese sentence inversion.The results show that,although the two languages share much in the existence of sentence inversion,the components inverted are different.As for information distribution,both languages put more information on the postpositioned part(that is,new information appears later),whereas for Chinese oral inversion sentence,the case is that important/new information comes first and the postponed is just but complementary.
