According to the threshold of plateau histogram equalization is hard to fix,propose a new image enhancement algorithm combined histogram compaction equalization. The new algorithm makes the histogram more compact and choose the plateau threshold that can enhance the detail and constrain the background noises. It overcomes the w eakness of the traditional ones that enhance all the information. Now,the algorithm is applied in the hardw are platform. Lots of experiments show that this method has a good enhancement to the low contrast image and is easy to apply in the practice.
