A Psycho-Cognitive Perspective on Input Segmentation in E-C SI
Jin Xue-zh · Journal of Sichuan International Studies University · 2007
Through the comparison between Seleskovitch's sense-construction-oriented view on SI and Goldman-Eisler's grammar-oriented view on SI,the latter view is chosen as principle in input segmentation of SI for SI's simultaneity and memory capacity's limitation, and the principle is also feasible for English-Chinese SI because of the sentence pattern isomorph between the two languages.Three ways for input segmentation are suggested: identity, fission and fusion. The principle and ways are carefully surveyed from the perspective of cognitive psychology.
