On Accuracy and Fuzziness of the Impact Factor

For judging the academic journals,the impact factor has been recogn i zed as one of the most important criteria.This paper,from the view of the connot ation of impact factor,citation practice in academy,and characteristics of journ als,discusses the features of the accuracy and fuzziness of the impact factor,so that a correct understanding of it can be expected and the best use of it can be made as well.
