A Study of Xu Guang's Annotations of the Historical Records Shi Ji

Xu Guang's annotated edition is the earliest one of existing annotated editions of the Historical Records. It records variant editions of the Historical Records during the Six Dynasties, which contribute to correcting the misprints of existing editions of the Historical Records. According to the variant characters of Xu Guang's annotations and other books and records of pre-Qin era and the Former and Later Han Dynasties, this article discusses the characteristics of variant editions of the Historical Records during the Six Dynasties and finds out the causes of the misprints of existing editions of the Historical Records, thus providing restoring the former state of the Historical Records with certain grounds.
