HIERARCHIAL STORAGE (HIERARCHY) FOR HIGH QUALITY CHINESE FONTS AND ITS TRANSFER CONTROL

B Chen, Ang Xu · Chinese Journal of Computers · 1981

Three levels of storage for high quality Chinese fonts are described in this paper. Integrated hardware/software design has played an important role in the improvement of system cost-performance ratio. The specially designed magnetic drum controller allows the Chinese fonts on the drum to be retrieved not by drum address but by character codes match. One line of Chinese fonts can be read to the core buffer from the drum through 12 revolutions of the drum and the actual access speed is thus significantly increased.
