A Performance Comparison of Two On-demand Routing Protocols for Ad-hoc Networks
Di Zhao · Communications technology · 2010
Ad hoc networks are self-organizing networks that can be organized anywhere and at any time without the aid of any established infrastructure and centralized administration. The two on-demand routing protocols for mobile ad hoc networks are compared, that is,Ad Hoc On-Demand distance Vector Routing(AODV),Dynamic Source Routing(DSR).These two on-demand routing protocols are simulated and evaluated with ns2 network simulation software on packet delivery ratio, average end-to-end delay, normalized routing load.Experiment indicates that although DSR and AODV have a similar on-demand behavior, their different protocol mechanisms lead to significant performance differences.
