Robust Anti-parallax Image Stitching Algorithm

Su Zha · Video Engineering · 2014

Traditional image stitching is sensitive to parallax camera motions between source frames, hence that the frames to be stitched should be taken from the same location. Several strategies for smoothly varying affine stitching to improve stitching performance are proposed in this paper, especially for the anti-parallax case. An effective way is first given to select proper feature, and then nonlocal means filter is employed to solve affine parameters. Finally,a specified interpolation method is designed to complete image stitching. With these ameliorations, the proposed algorithm significantly reduces the time-consuming and produces better results than the ones from traditional stitching methods. Experiment results verify that the proposed algorithm is robust against anti-parallax and yields satisfying image stitching rapidly.
