Adaptive Multi-Rate (AMR) codec has been defined in GSM system and adopted by 3GPP as a combined speech source and channel codec. The codec supports eight different source rates ranging from 12.2 kbps to 4.75 kbps. So it is flexible to adapt the error protection level and to allocate radio resources. In this paper, we propose an effective QoS guaranteed scheme for AMR applications in wireless networks under deteriorative channel. The less Frame Error Rate (FER) can be obtained by adopting the scheme proposed. The experiment result shows that the proposed scheme is able to promise audio transmission with QoS guaranteed.
