Research on SPECK Algorithm Optimized by Scalar Quantization

By analyzing wavelet coefficients, aiming at coding problem of significant coefficients in higher subbands of SPECK, the paper brings forward QSPECK algorithm that can optimize SPECK algorithm by scalar quantization At first adopting scalar quantization in higher subbands of wavelet coefficients matrix, then adopting block coding in quantized coefficients matrix, finally producing embedded bit streams by processive approaching quantization Experiments prove QSPECK does optimize coding efficiency and enhance PSNR
