Study on Direct Digital Frequency Synthesizer Technology Based on Piecewise Operation

A digital frequency synthesizer without ROM look up table is presented,a piecewise linear interpolation scheme is used to approximate a sinusoid function.For that approach,the first quadrant of the sinusoid function is approximated with a number of linear segments,then the sinusoid function is fully constructed by using its symmetry.System complexity and power consumption are significantly reduced by optimizing the hardware architecture.The whole digital system is implemented with Altera FPGA.
