Clustering Based Multicast Routing Protocol in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

To improve the scalability of multicast protocol,this paper proposes an Efficient Clustering-based Multicast Routing Protocol(ECMRP),which is extension of flat multicast routing protocols in Mobile Ad hoc NETworks(MANET) of large scale.The proposed protocol adopts an Improved Weighted Clustering Algorithm(IWCA) to manage hierarchically mobile nodes,and uses a soft state approach to form multicast tree within cluster heads.The simulation experiment shows the protocol has the advantages of low control overhead,high delivery ratio with Multicast Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector(MAODV) and On-Demand Multicast Routing Protocol(ODMRP),and proves ECMRP is better suitable for large-scale self-organization networks with high mobility.
