Research on Method for Improving Random Losses and Intermittent Interruptions in Integrated Satellite Network

Chen Qiongbin · Video Engineering · 2015

When the users of mobile ad hoc network transmit data over satellite network through satellite gateway, there are long propagation delay, random packets losses due to bit errors on satellite links, and intermittent connectivity may also occur when the mobile users disconnect from the satellite gateway. TCP performance degrades drastically if invoking the congestion control mechanism on such conditions. A TCP scheme is proposed, called TCP M-Veno,in the TCP sender,TCP Veno is improved to mitigate the effects of long propagation delay and random packet loss in heterogeneous satellite network. In the gateway, the advantages of M-TCP algorithm is employed to solve the intermittent interruptions due to terminal movement in the integrated satellite network. The performance improvement of the proposed TCP M-Veno is demonstrated by simulations by comparing the proposed TCP scheme to other TCP variants,NewReno,Veno, and M-TCP.
