Analysis to the current actuality of the application of classifications in the networked environment

The paper has analyzed the current situation of the application of the famous traditional classifications with the two famous classification schemes - DDC (Dewey Decimal Classification) and CLC (Chinese Library Classification), and compares the classification systems of Chinese web sites with the classification systems of English classification web sites. Moreover, it explains the potentialities of various kinds of classification schemes in organizing network information resources so as to maintain their vitality in the network environment.
