Application of Symbolic Time Series Analysis in Motor Bearings Fault Diagnosis

The problem of how to translate a time series into symbolic series,that meant signal coarse-grained,discussed in order to discriminate different faults.The symbolizing regulations of binary was given.According to the method of calculating symbolic series Shannon entropy and the coding method,the results of bearings shaft vibration had been calculated.The computation based on the actual data indicated that the Shannon entropy reflected the different kinds of motor bearings' fault.
