Design of fall detection device for elderly people based on accelerometer

A fall-detection device based on accelerometer is designed to safely and accurately monitor the user while still allowing complete privacy and security.Considering the characteristic of elderly people,a fall detection device hardware is designed based on accelerometer,using micro-sensors,digital data processing and wireless technologies.By utilizing acceleration values corresponding to the user's body motion,a robust algorithm is developed to accurately detect a fall.During field experiment and analysis,this detection system can distinguish fall event from normal activities,and raise fall alarm automatically to get a shortened interval of the arrival of assistance.
