In mobile Ad-hoc network environments, packet retransmissions and route reconstructions caused by link failures can be more frequent than in the wired network environments. It is a major challenge to transmission delays and packet losses due to link changes of a multicast tree while still providing high delivery ratio for each packet transmission in ad hoc network environment. A Reliable Multicast Routing Protocol(RMRP) based on a protocol relay concept was proposed. RMRP supported a reliable multicasting suitable for mobile ad-hoc networks by reducing the number of route reconstructions and packet retransmissions. Simulation results show that the RMRP has high delivery ratio and low end-to-end delay for packet transmission.
