An Algorithm for Extracting Shear-wave Anisotropy Parameter γ from Stoneley-wave Inversion and Its Case Study

It has been well recognized that hidden and lithological reservoirs are usually related to formation anisotropy,so studies on formation anisotropy have become the one of hot topics in oil and gas exploration domain recently.An inversion algorithm for extracting shear-wave anisotropic parameter γ of TIV(Transverse Isotropy with Vertical axis) formation from Stoneley wave based on a theory developed by Tang Xiaoming is presented.A field application of implementing the algorithm with VC++ in our software package Multi-pole Acoustic Analysis System(MAAS) is also illustrated.
