Resources Sharing on Heterogeneous Network Based on the Protocols of NFS and SMB
Yao Guo-xiang · 2005
This paper explains the details of NFS standard and SMB protocol. This paper attempts to discuss how to make the data and resources sharing convenience within the Heterogeneous Network by these two techniques. The Heterogeneous Network consists of lots of different manufacturers' machines and operating systems which follow the dissimilar protocols. That results in the problems of data and resources sharing. Therefore ,the NFS(Network File System)is created to solve this problem. Now this international standard is widely applied in various versions Unix and Non-Unix system to provide data switching between various computer infrastructures and operation platforms across networks by setting up a distributional file system.Meanwhile,SMB(Server Message Block)which is a protocol bases on session, presentation application layers,is designed for sharing files, printers, serial ports, and communications abstractions. By combining these two techniques, the Heterogeneous Network can easily achieve the seamless data integration.
