On the background of a transport scheduling expert system for molten iron,the paper introduces the main procedure and methods of developing large-scale expert system.Adopting Prolog as its main tool,the paper focuses on the knowledge extraction,knowledge representation,rule-based reasoning and the combination of C++ and Prolog language etc.
