Complete integration of GIS with resource and environmental model

Huang Hong-sheng · Journal of Computer Applications · 2009

Integration of model and GIS is one of the technical challenges in resource and environmental research field.A class diagram for Resource and Environmental Data(RE-Data) model was built on the basis of constructing models of RE-Data by using object-oriented method to represent RE-Data.Spatial data sharing between Resource and Environmental Models(RE-Models) and GIS was realized by using a common API.After standardizing model representation,a unified criterion,i.e.Input-Processing-Output mode, was used to represent RE-Models and spatial analysis models in GIS.Function integration between RE-Models and GIS was conducted after defining the basic interface of model(such as method to set parameter, method to call model execution). Finally,Taking assessment model of potential food provisioning services of terrestrial ecosystems as an example, the effectiveness of the technology to integrate RE-Models and GIS was verified.
