On the Differences of Conjunctive Devices in English and Chinese and Their Treatment in Chinese-English Translation

Conjunction is an important cohesive device,the proper use of which will contribute to the coherence of a text.Based on Halliday's cohesion theory,this paper analyzes the differences of conjunctive devices in English and Chinese and explores the causes of those differences.The paper also provides some methods for the treatment of conjunctive devices in Chinese-English translation in the light of the characteristics of hypotaxis and parataxis in English and Chinese.
